In Loving Memory of Wise Cat

I'm sad to say, that after 16 wonderful years, my best friend, Wise Cat has passed away.

 

Her story began on April 2, 1995. A mother cat gave birth to 5 kittens in the back of a beat-up truck. THE GIRL was a seven year old child at the time and was told that she could pick out a kitten. She chose the hairy gray one...and she's been living with my people ever since.

Gray, or as I call her, "Wise Cat", was the cat sister who i loved with all of my tiny heart. I remember the first day I was able to go outside in my new backyard. She wasnt shy to let me know who was boss. in fact, she didn't like me one bit in the beginning. This is our first pic together. she didn't even want to look at me! hehe.

 

but over time, she got used to me and we became buddies. she would always share her wise words, and it became routine for me to go out in the backyard and pay her a visit. This is what our backyard adventures looked like:

Trash Day

Happy Friday, everyone! Over here, Friday is known as "trash day". I have no idea why. Some of the dogs in the 'hood are huge fans of it. I guess I'll find out one day.

But I know why I enjoy Fridays (and the weekend)...I get to go for a walk! Now that THE GIRL goes away for a few hours during the day, I don't always get to go on my long walks except on the weekend. So I look forward to it now.

I got a little excited and started walking like a crazy dog. That usually happens when I first leave my yard. Either I was super excited to roam the neighborhood, or the smelly aroma of trash day was getting to me!

My people said that I did really well today. I didn't even bark at the noisy people that walked past us. and I didn't see The Three Stooges when I walked past their house. But they called me "good boy" today, so I know I'm improving on my behavior :)

 

but while i was resting on my porch watching THE MAN take his trashcans back in, I noticed a strange creature cruising down the street...it was really big, green, and smelled bad.

So, about a couple of months ago, THE LADY crocheted me a hat for whatever reason. i looked absolutely silly and all they did was laugh and take pictures. after my mini photoshoot on my bridge, i thought the silliness was over.

i never saw that hat again and i was happy :)

well, just this past weekend, THE GIRL thought it would be a cool idea to take up knitting and she created this

i thought it was pretty cool until they made me the official model for the new creation.

perhaps it wouldve looked better on one of my cat sisters, but you know how they are with yarn!

Summer is slowly going bye bye :( im going to miss it!

Ive been doing really well on my walks. I dont bark as much. also, my people have been trusting me and giving me more freedom! Usually when they leave the house they make me stay in my room all by myself. But lately they've been allowing me to roam the house free! Ive been a good boy and i havent gotten into any trouble. If you live in the same place, eventually you get bored and you just end up sleeping anyway BOL! i cant wait until they let me roam the house at night *evil laugh*

anywagz, about a week ago THE GIRL sold her camera...the one that we always use to take my lovely pix with. she's planning to get a new one sometime (hopefully soon!). until then, i guess its back to phone pix! but here are some of the last memories we've made with the giant camera.

rumor has it that my people are planning to take me to the dog park sometime this week. i hope they keep their word. if not, then i just might leave them a surprise in their shoes ;)

Happy Half-Year to Me!

First thing's first: a few days ago (the 15th) was my 6 month anniversary of my adoptionversary or as some might call it, "gotcha day"! I dont know why 6 months is worth celebrating, but Wise Cat told me that it means that I have been living here for half a year! I'm pretty excited *wags tail*.

And to make things better, I woke up that morning with a surprise in my room!

a basket full of treats! yum! wow, if i get presents for my 6 months, i cant wait to see what i'll get for my one year! Or better yet, CHRISTMAS! Lady Whiskers says I dont even deserve it! BOL!

Okay, now for an update on my daily walks: Ive been taking walks every morning and every late afternoon lately. There's always something different going on each day. Weird people walking around, weird people in their yards and even other dogs. this is supposed to expose me to the crazies that go on in the 'hood and hopefully "socialize" me.

so far im doing a decent job. besides the occasional BAR-RAR-RAR's! and the fact that I tried to run across the street when i saw one of my neighbors walking on the sidewalk. it nearly gave my people a heart attack. what? i wasnt gonna attack him. i wasnt gonna bite him. maybe just taste his ankle a little. but that was awhile ago. ive matured since then.

Oh yeah, and yesterday there was another dog walking around. He had a collar around his neck just like me, but he wasnt walking any people. He was alone. He also wasn't neutered. the reason why I know this is because...well...you know. Anyway, this drove me bonkers! He tried to come in my yard and he tried to steal my people so I had a little talk with him. I just told him to go find his own people before someone takes them away. I must've been talking super loud because my people carried me back into the house and kept telling me to "shhh". they also cancelled my walk that day due to me being disruptive to the 'hood. oops.

But here are my good moments!

Shopping At PetCo!

My people seem to go shopping almost everyday, so being alone in my room for a few hours has become routine for me. But today I was pleasantly surprised when they told me that I'll be going shopping with them! I went to a store called PetCo. It's similar to PETSMART except this one seems a lil more peaceful. Theyre want to take me out more, so this is a start i guess!

wow so many harnesses to choose from! i feel like a dog in a pet store! oh wait...

anyway, ive been having a conversation with Wise Cat in the backyard lately. She informed me that I'm gaining weight (but everyone's fat compared to her), im becoming lazy, and im barking way too much. I've also become territorial and a bit aggressive when it comes to my treats and she fears i might become those dogs that appear on The Dog Whisperer. 

So im starting my walks again. Back and fourth on the sidewalk every morning and evening. I started today and did alright. I did bark a lot though and i tried to charge at the neighborhood dogs. She (Wise Cat) gave me an overall grade C-. Im determined to graduate with flying colors by the end of this year! I'll show them that I can be a good dog!...i think.
