Hand-Feeding

I picked up a new method of eating this past week! Ever since I could remember, I've had some problem swallowing my food and water. Am I just piggish? Is the food too big for me to swallow? A little bit of both. Sometimes when I inhale my food and water I regurgitate. I personally think it's cool because it's like I'm recycling my own snacks but my people think it's gross. And remember that hacking problem that I mentioned a long time ago? My issue can lead to doggie pneumonia and even the end of my wonderful life! I'm only a year old or two, I can't cross the bridge quite yet! So we had to follow a few rules. Ew, rules.

1. Sit on somebody's lap so that they can hand-feed me.

2. Calm down! I get soooo excited when I know that food will be falling down my esophagus! My eyes do these crazy things but that's not good. I have to be relaxed and a "good boy" if I want to eat.

3. Stop teasing me!!

4. EAT! (my favorite step of them all!)

5. Then after I've eaten, I have to have lap time for a half an hour more so that I can digest and pass gas or something. *burp!* How ya doin'??

I've gotten used to it and I actually like it! At first I hated being bothered while eating. I'm so selfish with my food and that's the one thing I do NOT like to share! But that was part of the problem. I was labelled "food aggressive". I eat like there's no tomorrow and I've had digestive issues for awhile. I also didn't like the fact that I got a little bit of food to eat! But then I found out that I'd be fed 3 times a day in small portions, so I guess I don't mind after all! Not only do I regurgitate less, I've gotten better with my food aggression and I just seem to be a better behaved dog, so my people say!

I'm going to see if I can get more food...

Costume Thief & Laundry Day

'Twas the night in November, when to my surprise

Whiskers and I are now the same size!
Okay, for real, I've been quite the tootsie roll these past few months thanks to the love and treats and pure spoiledness, but I have lost a few pounds and I'm now a healthy weight! I've been so happy! But then there are downfalls...like others being able to fit in your clothes. Her eye looks all kinds of crazy!

I realize how much I love my clothes whenever Whiskers decides to borrow it. She was like the penguin from the under world! Pretty scary!

Enough of her. Today, I decided to do my laundry

Yeah, all of that is mine! But as I was staring at the pile, I decided that it might make a great place to sleep.

Turns out, I was right!

Are you still there??

Okay, later!

Furr-Well, Suka

Why the long face, Alfie? Well, my snoot is always long, but today I have a good reason. I got the sad news that my dear friend, Suka has crossed the Rainbow Bridge after health complications with his poor heart. I've been following him for awhile and read his health reports off and on. No matter what was going on in his furry life, he always assured us that he was going to be okay, and I believed him! It's sad to let go of a friend, but he's right, he is okay. He's happy and he gets to be in a land where it always snows!

I just want to thank Suka for his heart-felt comments and being such a great furriend. His blog was always so uplifting and contains useful words of wisdom! I will miss him furrever, and things won't be the same for me in blogworld. But it's not the end, it's the start of a new chapter in life and now he will always be happy, not that he wasn't on earth! He was always full of happiness! He will no longer have to wait for winter to come because every day will be winter for him! Maybe we will cross paths again one day...but I can't take the cold! BOL! Puppy kisses to his human, K.

Ooh look, a piece of life growing from the ground. It's a sign that we must continue while our new doggie angel watches over us.

<3

Gotta go clean my boogery tears now!

Hallowaddle

Autumn has finally poked its fat little head in our direction! I'm always going to be a warm weather doggie, but it's nice to have a change, although I admit, California tends to hold on to Summer longer than any other season. I'm not complaining! These past several weeks have just flown by! I'm excited for Hallowoof! I'm a much better dog! I'm growing up, I'm maturing, .People and other animals just don't seem as tasty anymore.

Just the other day, I decided that I want to be a super hero with lazer-red eyes for Hallowoof!
This look alone will scare any gangster that tries to pull of anything cute! Hopefully people will have their dog biscuits ready this year, unlike last year! I love my costume. It's nice and simple.

But my people had something else in mind...I don't know if I should....

I guess....

What is this?! Am I supposed to be a penguin or a dog giving a flat penguin a piggy back ride? Oh, brother!

"Come on, Alfie, smile for the camera!"

Nope!

Can't wait to see what you paw pals and your people come up with this Hallowoof!

Summer Work Out!

So I made a new discovery about myself. For the longest time I questioned myself whether I am really a dog, or a cat trapped in a dog's body! I LOVE chasing birds, I lick my fur to keep it clean, I hack hairballs, and sometimes I like to rub my face against my people to show affection! I love to sleep and I just don't care to play any games, especially ones that contain a bouncy ball! WHAT?! A dog not liking a ball? This trait was beyond my people! They always say, "Are we sure we didn't adopt a cat instead of a dog?!"

But just this past summer, I realized that playing ball is fun! I'm just picky when it comes to the ideal ball. I found one in our backyard that I really love! It's blue and it's really bouncy! It barely fits in my mouth but I really enjoy playing with it! I've gotten a little pudgy over the weeks and I need some kind of work out!

I'm ready to play!!!

I got it! I got it! This is a work out for my jaw too!

Sometimes I forget to stretch before my work out!

This is what my ball looked like after I slobbered all over it! It kind of looks like blue camouflage!

Woohoo! Exercise feels great! I can feel the burn! Wait...that's just the hot concrete!

It also poops you out!

This is more like it! Apparently, watching me tire myself is pretty tiring! Right, GIRL?

Oh yeah, and they just opened a dog park in our neighboring city! I haven't been able to go since it's been so hot down here, but my people are planning to take me some time. I was so happy, I could barely contain my smile!
BOL! I wasn't snarling like it looks like I am. I was sleeping and had my face pressed against my pillow and it curled my lip and it got stuck like that for awhile! It made a funny picture!

Say what?!

Vole Hunting

Ew, what is this? And who does he/she thinks she is walking across my yard?!

Why it's a little ole vole! Looks like hunting season has officially begun!

I'll get you, my pretty!

Aw, RATZ! Well, hopefully I'll catch my first rodent soon! I guess I'm still a rookie. And it was staring right at me! Someday...someday....

Can I come inside now?

I'll Miss You, William

I'm kinda sad thinking about my dear friend, William. Oh wait, you don't know what happened to William? Well, let me explain.

As you know, William was the little orphan dog that lived in the abandoned house in my neighborhood. There were several times when we tried to catch him, but he was just way too fast. Deep down inside, I admired how quick and smart he was. I knew that there was no way that the evil dog catchers would ever catch him. Day after day I would see him on my daily walk. My people would even give him some of my treats. At first I didn't like it. I'm a jealous fool, but I saw how much he enjoyed it.

Well, just last week we noticed some workers working on the abandoned house. William was hanging around in the yard just as he always did and we gave him a treat just as we always did. I said goodbye to him as if I'd see him again the next day. But the days following that, he was nowhere to be found. 4 days had gone by and no sign of William. Where was he?

This past Monday I found out. As I was on my daily walk with THE LADY, one of the neighbors told us that just a few minutes after we left last time, the workers who were working on the house CAUGHT William and took him to the shelter! I was shocked (there's the shocked face again)

People have been trying to catch William for weeks and they never succeeded. How did these workers catch him?! Well, it turns out, we kind of made it easy for them. They were trying to catch him for days because he was doo-dooing all over the yard. They failed the first few times they tried to catch him but since we gave him a treat, they found that to be the perfect opportunity to catch him. Poor William. I could only imagine how scared he was! It brings me back to the day I was captured. I was enjoying an abandoned bucket of KFC when BAM. The next thing I knew, I was in a shelter truck.

The story doesn't end there, though. A little girl who lived across the street saw the workers capture William and she started crying. We found out that this little girl was the kind soul who was feeding William while we weren't there. I knew he was being fed, because we would always find out containers filled with new food. She loved this guy. So her mom took to the shelter and she adopted him! He got neutered and everything! But she couldn't keep it at her house because they didn't have a fence around their yard. They took William to their cousin's house in another city to stay. Then something else happened! The cousin looked outside the next morning and discovered that William was gone! The little tyke did what he did best, outsmarted the human beings. So now he's out running lose in a strange city. So far he hasn't been found.

I feel sorry for him because he has no idea where he is. We found out that he did belong to the people who used to live in the abandoned house. They lost the house because they could no longer pay for it and they left their dog behind. They used to leave him chained up in the backyard all day. During the time that they had to leave, they just let him run loose. No wonder he never left that ugly house. Maybe he was hoping that his people would one day come back to get him.

I just hope that someone finds him and gives him a home. It's just sad knowing that I'm going to be passing by his house and not seeing him anymore. If only his people didn't chain him up everyday and abandon him, maybe he would've trusted people better. Everyone in the neighborhood loved him, and we will all miss him.

Weirdo Whiskers

What in the world is she doing?!

Since Wise Cat passed several months ago, we have a new queen in town: Lady Whiskers. Although Whiskers and I are rivals more than we are friends, I still do my best to respect her. She is, after all, OLDER than me. It's sometimes exhausting trying to figure out the ways of cats. Why do they act so cuddly one second and then demonic the next? Why are they fat, lazy balls of boring during the day, and playful at night when I'm locked up in my room? And why is she rubbing against my grass patch? Does she even know what goes on over here? heh heh.

I don't get it, but this is our relationship:

One minute she thinks I'm cool....

The next minute she wants to tear me apart!

Anywagz, William is starting to trust us more. He even tried walking with us this time!

I also saw something strange during my walk. It was slimy, had this weird thing on his back, and was super slow. I bet it would make a great delicacy, of course, I'll never find out.

My people also want to teach me to play with a ball. I don't get the excitement about it. I'm probably the only dog that feels that way!

Pee-Es: My back legs are back to normal! Yay!
